Winter Sports Tournament

Last week on Thursday my winter sport's team went to centrals for the hockey tournament. My team consists of Gaby, Grace, Isabella, Mereana, Neila, Petra, Oliver, Ben and I.  We came second in our pool so then we versed for 5th and 6th since we bet the team we came 5th but since a team tied for 1st place we came 4th. We won all our games except for one which we lost. All the teams there were really nice and respectful to our team, everyone worked really hard in the tournament and congratulations to those who placed. I think my whole team can agree that we all had a fun and great time.

    Hey Alexis,

    It was great to read about your achievements at the Canterbury Sports tournament. It sounds as though you all enjoyed your day and represented SFOA with pride. How do you think we can continue to build on the sports we have played on a Thursday so that everyone can continue growing their skills?

      Thank you and I think if we continuously practice during school time we would be able to get more skillful at what we play maybe even during summer too.

    I enjoyed reading about your day at Canterburys. It sounds as if your team did really well. I went to Canterburys to collect score cards!

This week we got to draw a piece of paper out of a box and that would have a random country on it. With that country you had to do some research about it and write some instructions on a skill or game from that country. Cross Country

Last week on Thursday my school had cross country. In my age group the year 8s had to run 3km and I came 5th which means I will be going to zones. At 9:00 am the whole school walked down to Walter park to start running, first was the year 8 boys and we finished with the year 6 girls. Everyone ran really well and tried their best I had a lot of fun running and cheering people on. After everyone was super tired and exhausted. Sports Rotations

For the last few weeks every Thursday we have been rotating between 4 sports in our home base's: Cricket, Lawn Bowls, Softball and Korfball. Korfball is a new sport to most of us in class and it is a bit like netball but with a few different rules during game. In Korfball instead the hoops were plastic and taller than the usual hoops. My home base has done all of them except Lawn Bowls and in our next rotation we will be doing that. Have you ever played Korfball before?
