Reading Week 4

Image
This week for my reading workshop we were focusing on ideas from the text, the authors purpose and how they relate to each other. Here is my create task. Our book is Global Perspective Racism. Identify 3 main ideas from the text. Put these ideas into the ‘clouds.’ In the red boxes put what you think the author’s purpose or stance was. (Why did they write this story?) What are some of the related ideas in the text? You could put this in the purple boxes. You could add images to support your ideas too. Have you ever done something like this?

Reading Week 3

Every week we timetable our own week so we put ourselves in workshops according to our goals. In a day we have to have one reading, writing, and math workshop. For each workshop we have tasks we have to complete here is how my reading workshop went. We read two school journals on discrimination and had to make a ven diagram. A ven diagram is where you have the two stories next to each other and write the similarities and differences here is mine. The stories were Mario Land Wars and Bok Choy. Have you ever used a ven diagram before?

Once we make the bag we can decorate it with lot's of different deigns like: Fabric markers, paint, stitching and more. For my bag the message is going to be save the sea and it will have a whale and turtle.  The year 7s do * Fabrics *Plastics *Food *Woodwork's.  The year 8s do *Metals *Electronics *Food *Fabrics. I always enjoy tech because I learn lot's of new things but it is also so much fun at the same time. Have you ever made a bag before?

Speeches

For half of this term we are working on our speeches my speech is on racism and how it affects our world here is my introduction. Living in a society where racism is active tells us that we cant even feel at home in our homes that we can’t live without being criticized, compared or hurt. We don’t get to choose the color of our skin, our race or the way we look and we shouldn’t need to change ourselves just to please others or just to fit into everyone else. The color of our skin shouldn’t define who we are it shouldn't tell us what to be and what not to be we should be able to do what we want to do without judgment. Have you done a speech before if so what was it on?

Art

Image
In the last week my class have been working on an art project about discrimination. We would draw or take a picture of our selves and put it on a piece of paper then we would get a quote, story or something off the internet about discrimination and put it besides our body above the body we would put a slogan or a logo. Here is mine. Have you ever done art like this?

Cross Country

Last week on Thursday my school had cross country. In my age group the year 8s had to run 3km and I came 5th which means I will be going to zones. At 9:00 am the whole school walked down to Walter park to start running, first was the year 8 boys and we finished with the year 6 girls. Everyone ran really well and tried their best I had a lot of fun running and cheering people on. After everyone was super tired and exhausted. Have you ever done cross country if you have how did you do?

P.B.L This Term

Image
This term our P.B.L is about discrimination, how can we speak up against discrimination. Here is a brief brain storm about it. Disclaimer: I am not meaning to offend anyone I have just written what I have learnt about discrimination. Discrimination Sexism, racism, Ageism, and Ableism are some of the main discrimination that are happening in the world. Sexism is being bias against genders and one of the genders having better privileges against the other Example:Not letting women work as much as men. Racism is when people are against other races and them having lower rights then everyone else Example: Not letting colored people into restaurants. Ableism is being against people who have a disorder and not letting them join in to other activities. Example:Not letting them play a game because they have a disorder. Ageism is being against different ages other then your own and excluding them in everyday life. Example: Not letting them work with you because they are too
