P.B.L Planning Tempate

For the last few weeks we have been working on P.B.L. We got given a planning template and we would fill it out on how our project would go. I am working on it with my friend Gaby. In our project we are basing it on diseases and how they can often go a bit unnoticed. We are diving deep into research and looking at the affects of certain diseases and how we could prevent us from getting sick. If you are interested in knowing more about our P.B.L this term then here is a link to one of my blogs explaining it in more depth:  P.B.L Blog Here is our planning template we worked on:  Alexis & Gaby's P.B.L Planning Template What would you have chosen for your topic in P.B.L?

Science Experiment

Last week and a few weeks before we conducted our own science experiment. I did my science with my friend Gaby our question was: How do different ingredients effect the sweetness of a Hot Chocolate? We made different drinks with different sweetening agents and gave them to different ages and people. We then got them to rate the sweetness of each drink without them knowing which is which. Here is our scientific method:  Alexis & Gaby's Scientific Method What would you have done your science experiment on?

Volunteering Week

Image
This week we are going in and out of the classroom to volunteer. The options we had to volunteer was food bank, curtain bank and cleaning graffiti. The option I was in was curtain bank so what we did there was we measured and bagged curtains for the people who can't afford insulation for their house. We would measure the width and length of the curtain and if it was damages in any way at the bottom we would measure where to cut off. All the curtains were donated by generous people in Christchurch and the people who work at the curtain bank are volunteers. Have you ever been to the curtain bank before?

Narrative On The Future

For the last two weeks we have been working on a narrative about the future. We had to pick an ethical issue that is currently going on in the world and theoretically fix it. My ethical problem is about pollution and how we might loose our beautiful world to this, so we should try and live healthier lives to preventing this. For one of my blog posts I posted a plan for writing and here is the final product of that. (It's 7 pages long and might change due to future edit's) The Future Writing What ethical issue would you have written about and why?

All the teams there were really nice and respectful to our team, everyone worked really hard in the tournament and congratulations to those who placed. I think my whole team can agree that we all had a fun and great time. If you went to a tournament what sports would you play?

Novel Reading Slides

This week for workshops instead of having goals we have narrative writing, reading slides, cantamath project and diamond math template. Today I am talking about my reading slides. In the reading slides it is based off the novel that we are reading. On the slides we had to write an orientation of it then draw a picture for it. Next we would do a Y chart and then on the other slides are more but we haven't finished the book yet so I have not done them. Here is my work so far.   Have you written an orientation before?

Then we got given a template for our planning and filled it out, so here is mine: What would you have written about?

Stanford Math Course

For the past term we have been taking a Stanford math course which helps us understand math and why we use it. Here is what we learnt. - Having a growth mindset toward math is very important because if you get a math equation wrong then we should never give up and always keep on trying because struggle helps our brain grow. - Math is every where in nature, dance, sport, animals we don't notice how important math can be. - People say that you are either a math person or not but this is not true at all because even if you are not as good at math everyone can improve and become more confident in math. - When it comes to math speed doesn't matter because some of the best mathematicians are slow and take their time working math out. - It is important to communicate with others and share ideas and answers because if there is something you don't understand then by communicating with others they can help you understand what you are struggling with. There is a lot more ...

P.B.L Driving Question

This term for our P.B.L the driving question is what will the future ask of us? In our hub we have been having lot's of discussions about this here is what we were talking about. We first talked about our world problems and what the top 5 would be here are some examples of our world problems. *Climate Change/Global Warming *Corrupt Politicians *Discrimination *Mental Health/ Illness *Unnecessary Drugs/Addiction *Poverty/ 3rd World Countries *Over Population We then started talking about how technology has evolved so much because soon enough robots/AI will starts taking our jobs and replacing people. But for people we have things that robots don"t have like: Emotions, Creativity, Originality, and we are able to connect with other people. We watched some videos about how much tech has evolved and to be honest it can be very scary because they potentially take over everything we have. We then made a padlet and shared all our ideas and discussed what makes us differen...

Our main characters is Ellen and I .For our first dance we start in a line and everyone starts fast walking in a circle around Ellen and I when the beat drops Ellen and I push our arms down and the people around us fall down. Then after that we lift our arms up and raise the others up. After that the people in the circle close in on Ellen and I so Ellen and I run out and do cartwheel across the front and that is our introduction. Here is the music that we are using for our first dance.  Radioactive Instrumental Scene 8 The next dance is the struggle between the brot...
