Poffertjes Mini Dutch Pancakes
This week's task is to create a type of food from the country you picked out of a hat. If you have read my other blog posts I have mentioned writing instructions on how to play a game from Netherlands. So here is my recipe I wrote on how to make Poffertjes Dutch Mini Pancakes.
How To Make Mini Dutch Pancakes Poffertjes
Poffertjes are mini pancakes made from Netherlands with Yeast being a key ingredient. They are cooked on both sides until golden brown. They are usually served with powdered sugar and butter on the side.
Ingredients:
*2 ¼ Teaspoons Of Active Dry Yeast
*1 ½ Cups Of Lukewarm Whole Milk
*1 ½ Cups Of All-Purpose Flour
*2 Tablespoons Of Granulated Sugar
*A Pinch Of Salt
*1 Egg
*Butter For Greasing Pan
For Serving
*Powdered Sugar
*Butter
Materials:
*Poffertjes Pan Or Normal Pan
*Spatula
*Plastic Or Towel
- In a small bowl pour milk in and sprinkle the yeast. Then stir to combine, now allow it to sit for 10-20 minutes until frothy.
- Whisk together flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Mix in the milk containing yeast and add eggs then mix until smooth.
- Cover your batter with a towel or plastic and then let it rest for 1 hour until risen and bubbly.
- Place Poffertjes pan or a normal pan on medium heat brush the pan with butter.
- Now place about 1 tablespoon of batter into the pan.
- Cook until bubbles form on top and bottom is golden brown. Now flip them onto the other side. Remove Poffertjes and place onto a plate, now repeat with the rest of the patter.
- Now serve while it is still hot onto a plate with powdered sugar and butter.
